Final exam results!

We had our final results today and on the whole, I feel pretty okay about them. Of course, the finals were more difficult than the mid-terms but those hardly covered anything I hadn't previously studied. I have no idea how, but I managed to get better marks than I expected?!

Firstly, reading. Again, we had the one part with our reading teacher to read aloud two of the pieces of text from our reading textbook, which we randomly picked. I got a higher mark than last time, yet at the time, I thought that it wasn't as good as my mid-term results so that was a nice surprise. For that, I got 9.1/10 and the actual reading exam, 82.5 out of 90. It was only actually a couple of mistakes - one just for misreading the question (I thought it was 월요일/Monday, but it said 일요일/Sunday), which was worth 4 marks.

Epik High concert and Pikachu at Dongdaemun

Just some quick ramblings about this weekend before I forget about it all - it felt like I was busy but really, I wasn't - I just had things to do on both days for a change.

It felt a little like I hardly had time to get excited about Epik High's concert since they announced it so recently! I only bought the tickets three weeks ago because they announced two extra shows, and I went to the Saturday afternoon one with Sam and her friend Stephanie.

The entrance to the venue (bit weird, we had to walk down about 3 stories of stairs after going in...)
It was.... brilliant. We were in standing, and pretty near to the front and although I would have liked to have been a bit more central, I didn't mind because it was boiling hot in there. The ceiling was pretty high up so no benefit of any air-con really. I wasn't that energetic going in but by the time they did High Technology and New Beautiful, I was certainly jumping around with everyone around me. I managed to get really far forwards when Tablo was up on the barriers in front of me and everyone pushed forwards. Definitely glad to have been there and seen them live!! Tukutz also had his son come out on stage during the encore and they were adorable. All in all, it was simply a really fun concert. They did quite a lot of talk segments too which was good - it created a very cool and relaxed atmosphere.

Happy Halloween!! and mid-term results~

So, I actually dressed up and went out last weekend... There was an early Halloween party because the club was actually closing down last Saturday, so they decided to go out with a bang. I looked up some cool YouTube make-up tutorials and then kinda did my own version of for a Voodoo Doll and Steph had her vampire fangs. I just realised, she posted the photo of both of us on Facebook and I don't have a copy yet, so here's me;

Voodoo Doll~~
I certainly loved this outfit and make up! I'll be doing this again~ It made lots of people do double-takes as we walked around Hongdae, especially being a week in advance, but it was cool to get such a good reception from it :D

In other news; I had mid-term exams this week on Wednesday and yesterday, then we had our results today. I'm very glad I found out today instead of beforehand that these grades are actually worth 40% of my grade at the end of the semester, because I tried not to get too stressed out over them, and that would have probably made me panic. We did preparation in class but I can't say that I did any revision outside of that or doing the normal daily homework...

Quack, quack~

So,  I haven't really been doing all that much, but it feels like I'm always busy??

This afternoon, I went all the way over to Jamsil for the BAP Matoki pop-up store for goods. I didn't really want to spend much, so I just bought a patch badge, and got some stuff for Shimo and Dani. It was in the new Lotte Mall there that's just opened up and I wanted to see what that was like too. I remember back when I first came to Korea, I went to Jamsil in November for Steph's birthday and saw the building site, completely flat and only the construction barriers up. Now, there's a luxury brand mall and another shopping mall joined together and the massive tower is still being built above it.

The sweeping stairs were cool!
Butterflies sculpture doo-dah

My secondary reason for wanting to go out there though, was to see the big Rubber Duck sculpture in the lake right next to the new shopping centre. We could hardly get near to take a photo, there were a lot of people there. Everyone had to just wait, quickly take a picture and then keep moving on.

Decapitated duck..... :(
So... with all of that, maybe we didn't get the best photo but whatever, it was cool to see it!!

We just went for dinner afterwards, then to a coffee shop to do our respective Korean homework before coming back home. ^^

Second day of class....

Well.... that whole "why not move up a level" thing didn't last long. I spent most of the afternoon/evening yesterday trying to weigh things up and went back to my original class this morning. I'm much happier to be there really. Even if it was another day where my brain could basically switch off, at least in a few weeks' time things will be much more of a review for me and it won't be too long before we get to something I've learned before and forgotten completely or something new. Plus, I won't be spending all my time outside class frantically trying to work out what the hell is going on and/or be super stressed out by the time mid-term and final exams come around....

Quite looking forward to my time here again instead of worrying, now that I've made my mind up! ^-^

Finally moved into halls and first day of class

[Note; I realise this is a very text-heavy post. I'm basically just rambling and apologies for that.]

Yesterday was my last day with Dani (sad times :( ), so after seeing her leave at Incheon airport, I came back for a short orientation talk and to halls for the first nights' stay. Finally unpacked and did my laundry from the last two weeks holiday!

My room is... a standard halls room. I have a slightly bigger bathroom than I expected, with somewhere to actually stand for the shower to the side instead of being in the middle like my old Korean apartment or others I've seen here, so that's nice. However, I could definitely do with more wardrobe space, especially to hang things as it's really narrow and there's room for it to be about a foot wider. Also, it has pretty tiny drawers and shelf space I'll never use right at the top... so in that sense, I miss my one from my Derby halls where it actually had a decent amount of hanging space, shelves and big, wide drawers!

A walk through "space 8"!

Hello from Korea! I visited GD's space 8 exhibition today and wanted to give an idea of what it was like. Unfortunately, I was so distracted, I forgot that I was going to take notes... so I'm going to apologise now for not remembering exactly everything we saw today and not being as precise as I wanted to be.

Reppin' UKBB!
It was pretty quiet whilst we were there, but today was GD, Seungri and Taeyang's stage at Inkigayo, so that must have had an effect! We walked straight in and it was fine walking around as you were able to take your time if you wanted to. It was recommended that if there were crowds, to not take more than an hour inside, but I lost track of how long we took. The gallery itself was relatively small, but the exhibition was nicely spaced. I used my ticket from the One Of A Kind Final concert for entry, and they stuck a sticker with an 8 to the back of it.

First up, the ground floor had Coup d'Etat pictures - some were large, around the size of a metre or so, others around poster size or a little smaller. There were three copies of the smudged painted portraits which are from the album; there was an extra white one to go with black and red versions.
